Privacy Policy
Effective July 9, 2026
Gita Mode is built to keep your spiritual practice private. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and what never does.
What stays on your device
- Your practice. Rituals, moods, japa counts, streaks, and settings are stored on your iPhone (and its encrypted device backups). We run no accounts and no practice database.
- Your blocked apps. App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. Apple provides your app selection to Gita Mode as opaque tokens — the app cannot read which apps you chose, and this information never leaves your device. We cannot see it; no one can.
- Scripture. The full Bhagavad Gita ships inside the app and is read offline.
What leaves your device
- Personalized prayers. When the app generates a prayer, it may send your chosen mood, your first name (as you entered it), and the day's verse reference to our server, which forwards it to an AI provider (Google Gemini) to compose the prayer. This data is not used to train AI models and is not stored by us. If you're offline, prayers are composed on your device instead.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Advertising attribution
To measure our own ads — and nothing else — Gita Mode includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK. If, and only if, you allow tracking at the iOS prompt, the SDK may use your device's advertising identifier together with app events (install, trial start, purchase) to measure which ads brought people to the app. This is governed by Apple's App Tracking Transparency: decline the prompt and no tracking identifier is shared, and you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Meta processes this data under its privacy policy.
We never share your name, moods, prayers, practice history, or app selections with Meta or any advertiser — attribution events carry no devotional content.
Notifications
Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We run no push-notification servers.
Children
Gita Mode is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored practice data.
- Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Email us to ask anything about this policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
